Sunday School and Christian Education
The Preschool Classes meet in the preschool wing.
The LIGHT House (Learning in God’s House Together) Rotation Sunday School is for children Grades K–5 and meets on Sunday morning at 9:00 in the “white house” renovated Sunday School building.
The Middle School (Grades 6–8) meets in the Junior High Youth Lounge (Room 216).
The High School (Grades 9–12) meets in the Senior High Youth Lounge (Room 218).
The Abiding Faith Class For Young Adults meets in the Fellowship Hall (Room 204).
The Genesis Class meets in Room 200.
The Willis Fellowship meets in the Session Room (Room 108).
The Women’s Bible Study meets across from the hand bell room (Room 101).
The Adult Fellowship Class meets across from the session room (Room 103).
The Men’s Bible Study meets in the Fellowship Hall (Room 314).
The Wednesday Youth Club (Grades 1–5) meets Wednesdays after school from 4:30–5:30 in the fellowship hall to learn through Bible study, crafts and recreation. First graders get an introduction to all the elements and language of the church service.
The Sunday Youth Club (Grades 6–12) meets Sunday afternoons from 4:30–6:00 to in the fellowship hall to learn together, worship, nurture each other, and reach out to those beyond our group in service, as well as to share a snack, play games, enjoy fellowship and fun.
The Preschool Program is a weekday ministry servicing families of children ages eighteen months–five years; and seeking to provide the best possible nurturing and educational environment. There are a number of select classes, including a transitional kindergarten class.
The Preschool Committee meets quarterly to help plan our church’s weekday preschool program.
Christian Education Committee meets monthly to plan and provide Christian education for all ages of the congregation.

Dr. John Wilkerson is our Interim Pastor. A native of Lynchburg, Dr. Wilkerson is a VA graduate of Lynchburg College (B.A. degree) and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA (M.Div. and D. Min degrees). He has served four congregations as an installed pastor, thirteen congregations as an interim pastor, Salem Presbytery as an interim executive presbyter and stated clerk, Queens University in Charlotte as Interim Chaplain, and Catawba College in Salisbury as an adjunct professor of Old and New Testament studies. He is the founder and director of Church Leadership Coaching and Consulting, and a member, honorably retired, of Charlotte Presbytery, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Dr. Wilkerson is married with six children, fourteen grandchildren, and one German Shepherd.
Elders are the ruling body of the church and are headed by the pastor.
Deacons are a body of the church which exercises responsibility in practical matters and in the welfare of the congregation.
Shepherd Ministry members serve as “shepherds” to stay in contact with and
minister to groups of approximately twelve family units of the church.
Stephen Ministry members are trained to provide confidential care as a Christian friend for those in need.
Witness & Service Committee members meet monthly and for special events to implement mission programs and benevolences for our congregation, county and world.
The Worship Committee meets monthly to coordinate with the minister and director of music to plan the worship services and to plan and implement the preparation of the sanctuary.
Evangelism Committee meets to plan and implement ways to spread the gospel within our community and world; also, to coordinate our church’s radio ministry that is broadcast from 11:00–12:00 on Sundays.
Riverside Outreach Club (ROC) meets weekly with Hispanic and other children and youth to teach them about Jesus.
Handbell ChoirAudiovisual Committee meets as needed to plan, set-up, and implement the audio-visual needs of all programs and worship services.
Drama Committee meets as needed to plan and implement productions with a Christian message.

Music
Lee Northcutt has been the Director of Music/Organist since 1988. He holds degrees from Pfeiffer College and Yale University. He has performed solo organ recitals across the US and abroad including London’s Westminister Abbey and St. Paul’s Cathedral. He has led our Chancel Choir on three European tours. Lee and his wife Kristin are enjoying their twin sons Paul and Tim.
We are very pleased to welcome our Music Associate, Dy-Ann Sturgis, who has been with our church for approximately two years. Dy-Ann is an integral part of our music program, and leads the Contemporary and Junior Choirs. Dy-Ann is an instructor of chorus at Weddington Middle School.
The Chancel Choir, The Contemporary Choir, The HandBell Choir, The Junior Choir, and The Cherub Choir members meet on Wednesday evenings or as needed to practice; and on Sundays to share their talents to glorify God through music.

Other Administrative and Congregational Committees
Contemporary ChoirCommunications Committee meets quarterly to assure that all members of all ages are informed of church programs and activities through all media: phone tree, our newsletter, The Tablet, DVD recordings, web site, and local newspapers.
Community Jubilee Committee meets as needed to plan, implement, and coordinate the church wide Community Jubilee fund raiser that is held the third Saturday in November to raise funds for programs and to help decrease the debt of our church.
Congregational Care Committee meets monthly to plan and implement activities that remember and care for all members of the congregation.
Endowment Committee meets quarterly to plan awareness and avenues for members to give permanent financial gifts that will benefit our church forever.
Fellowship Committee meets as needed and on Wednesday evenings to coordinate the Wednesday Night Fellowship Meals.
Finance Committee meets monthly to recommend and oversee the budget of the church.
Good Times Committee meets as needed to plan and implement activities for the senior citizens of our congregation and community.
Hispanic (Bethel) Committee meets as needed to assist the Hispanic members, Bethel Ministry, to work closely with the church.
Jubilee Quilters meet on Monday mornings from 9:00–12:00 for fellowship and to quilt by hand a quilt to be raffled at the Community Jubilee.
Kitchen Committee meets as needed to maintain the order and organization of the kitchen.
Men of the Church meet as needed to plan and implement programs/activities for the men of our congregation.
New Member Committee meets quarterly to plan and implement activities to welcome visitors and new members to our congregation.
Member Support Committee meets as needed to enhance the focus of the deacons’ nurture of the entire congregation.
Personnel Committee meets monthly to review the work environment, salary and benefit package, and annual performance appraisals of staff members and to make recommendations to the Session.
Presbyterian Women’s Circles meet monthly and council officers meet as needed to coordinate the women’s circles of the church and to plan and implement programs for all women.
Wedding Committee meets as needed to direct weddings according to the policies of the church.
Property Committee meets monthly to coordinate the planning and maintenance of the church buildings and grounds.
Scholarship Committee meets as needed to award college scholarships from specific endowments of the church.
Stewardship Committee meets monthly to plan and implement a year-round program to encourage members to experience the joy of giving of their time, talents, and treasure.
Structure and Organization of the Church (SOC) Committee was established by the Session and meets monthly to coordinate the work of all Standing Committees of the church.
Retreat Committee meets as needed to plan and implement church wide retreats.
