Leadership in the Church
Elders
Presbyterian churches are run by elders, who are members of the church that are elected by the congregation and ordained for service in three year terms. The active elders make up the Session that meets monthly and helps to guide and govern the church. Currently, FPC has 15 elders in three classes of five. In the PC(USA) men and women are allowed to be elders.
Pastor
Pastors of presbyterian churches are sometimes referred to as teaching elders whose sole responsibilties are to preach, teach, and help lead the church. In the Presbyterian system, pastors work with the Session to run the church.
Staff and Ministry Leaders
Our dedicated staff and ministry leaders oversee the day-to-day life of the church, including worship, music, education, and outreach. Their work ensures that the ministries of FPC Monroe continue to flourish during this transitional season.
We believe the church is strongest when all members are engaged in ministry. Even in this time of transition, we are confident that God is at work among us—calling, equipping, and leading us into the future with hope.
