When you choose to give, you become part of something bigger—something powerful.

For over 40 years, our current Allen organ has faithfully supported the worship life of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe. However, the instrument is now showing its age. The aging digital components are becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to maintain, and replacement parts are now very limited. As some of you may remember, the organ actually began smoking last year, several stops are now permanently disabled, and the Allen Organ Company has informed us that the instrument has essentially reached the end of its usable life.

There is a very real possibility that the organ could fail unexpectedly, leaving us to rely solely on the piano for worship for a period of time. While we are grateful for the years of service this instrument has given, it is time to look ahead.

After careful consideration, we believe the new Allen GX336 would best serve the musical needs of our congregation for years to come. A new instrument would provide greatly improved tonal quality, reliability, and flexibility for congregational hymn singing, choral accompaniment, and the many special services and concerts held throughout the year. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to strengthen and renew the musical leadership of worship at First Presbyterian Church of Monroe for the next generation.

The approximate cost of the new instrument is $140,000. Because the manufacturing, delivery, and installation process takes approximately 5–7 months, our goal is to raise the needed funds within the next 12 months.

At this time, we ask the congregation to prayerfully consider how you can financially support this important effort. Above all, we ask for your prayers for the success of this capital campaign and for the continued strength of the music ministry at FPC Monroe.

Thank you for your faithful support of the music ministry at FPC Monroe.

Why are we launching an Organ Capital Campaign?

Why are we launching an Organ Capital Campaign?

Our current organ has faithfully served First Presbyterian Church of Monroe for nearly 40 years. Unfortunately, the instrument is now reaching the end of its usable life. Aging digital components are becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to repair, replacement parts are limited, and several features of the organ are already permanently disabled.  After evaluation by the Allen Organ Company, we have been advised that the instrument is essentially “life expired.”

Is the current organ still working

Yes — but with increasing limitations. Some stops no longer function, reliability concerns continue to grow, and there is a real possibility the instrument could fail unexpectedly during worship or become unusable altogether.

Why replace the organ now?

Replacing the organ proactively allows us to carefully plan for the future rather than respond to an emergency failure. It also gives us time to raise funds responsibly before the new instrument is manufactured and installed

What organ are we considering?

After careful research and evaluation, we believe the Allen GX336 best fits the worship and musical needs of our congregation. The estimated total cost is approximately $136,000, including manufacturing, delivery, installation, and setup.

How long will the process take?

Once ordered, the organ will require approximately 5–7 months for manufacturing, delivery, and installation.  Our goal is to raise the necessary funds within the next 12 months.

How will this campaign be funded?

We hope to fund the project through:

* Individual gifts

* Memorial and honor gifts

* Special fundraising events

* Community support opportunities

* Prayerful generosity from the congregation

No specific giving amount is expected. Every contribution matters.

Can gifts be made in memory or honor of someone?

Yes. Opportunities for memorial and honorary giving will be available as part of the campaign.

 Will additional fundraising events be planned?

Yes. More details about special events, concerts, sponsorship opportunities, and campaign activities will be shared in the coming weeks and months.

Why is the organ important to worship?

The organ plays a vital role in leading congregational singing and supporting worship at First Presbyterian Church of Monroe. It enhances hymns, accompanies the choir, supports weddings and funerals, and enriches seasonal services throughout the year, including the Monroe Community Christmas Concert.  A new instrument represents an investment in the worship life and musical ministry of our church for future generations.

How can I support the campaign right now?

At this stage, we ask the congregation to:

1. Pray for the success of the campaign

2. Prayerfully consider a financial contribution - you can donate here

3. Help share enthusiasm and support for the project

Who can I contact with questions?

Thank you for supporting the music ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe.
