Our Team
Kit Hargett
I am a native of Monroe. I’m happily married to my high school sweetheart, Scott. We have two children and five grandchildren. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Go Niners!). I have 30+ years experience working with young children, including 15 years in leadership roles. I love helping families navigate the first school experience. I firmly believe every child deserves a quality preschool education. “All I really need to know, I learned in Kindergarten” hits home for me! I learned it here as I am a graduate of First Presbyterian Church Kindergarten. When I’m not busy with preschool, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, weight training and helping family and friends buy and sell homes as I am a licensed real estate agent.
Preschool DirectorAl Cousins

In addition to directing congregational music, Al oversees seasonal concerts, special worship services, and community music events, helping bring people together through shared faith and song. He has a particular love for choral music and enjoys building programs that inspire participation and spiritual connection. He believes music has the power to strengthen community, deepen worship, and bring joy to people of all ages.
Outside of church ministry, Al spent 30 years in corporate finance and now enjoys photography, model railroading, and has a private pilot’s license.
He is honored to serve the congregation of First Presbyterian Church and would love to char with anyone interested in sharing their gifts through music ministry!
